Woo hoo! This week was better and I did a little getting ready.
I actually did think of Christmas a little this week. TheHub and I happened into a store I absolutely never go in and I found 4 presents for Christmas. TheHub and I give cash gifts to our sons and DILs as their main present, but we also give them a few smaller gifts. I mean, everyone like to have presents to open right? So I now have a total of 8 gifts purchased, and a few ideas to get whenever.
I collected a couple of recipes to try that I could add to our usual Christmas brunch if I like the way they taste and look, but it is just too hot to do any serious baking right now.
And the pear tree has given me enough pears for a batch of pear ginger jam. I am not a big jam or jelly person, but this stuff is pretty dang tasty. I am going to spring it on give it to a few friends who I think might like it.
I am also considering making some apple cinnamon jelly and canning it in small jars to hand out to any guests we have over the holidays as they leave the house (though it is still just a consideration).
And for the official record, I managed to avoid the decoration room of terror once more.
Ho, Ho, it will be here before we know it.
Five months from tomorrow! I would love a Christmas Day brunch then nothing else the rest of the day but movies, it card games, walks and no have to do anything.
ReplyDeleteWe do a big brunch every year and then it is a calm day, usually filled with movies and whatever football game is played Christmas Day
DeleteIt's amazing how fast christmas comes each year!
ReplyDeleteYep. In my mind Christmas was just a couple of months ago
DeleteI suppose I might as well leave the 2 foot or so decorated tree up!
ReplyDeletePractical Parsimony
No reason to take it down now
DeleteA really nice song! Continue to enjoy your summer, Anne.
ReplyDeleteI love this song. I actually have this vinyl album somewhere in the house.
DeleteYay! You've got gifts already! That's a very good start!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to get started!
DeleteWow, you did great getting four presents from that shop. The pear jelly sounds delicious and will make really nice gifts.
ReplyDeleteI like finding things I know they will like. I especially like finding them at an off season price.
DeleteI too give cash to my kids and spouses ( or pay their electric bill) at Christmas. I usually give a Roll Tide t shirt to my three sons, and buy groceries for my daughter since she went to LSU and does not want an Alabama t shirt… lol. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI can see how your daughter would not appreciate the Bama shirt!
DeleteThis is the first time in years I've not already begun collecting little "just because" Christmas presents. So less stressful than waiting for the big countdown.
ReplyDeleteI try to have several presents for each person in our family to open. That being said, I will wrap and bow a single bottle of nail polish or emery boards. There is just something festive about having a lot of presents under the tree to hand out for others to open.
