Serious Cravings!

What do you want when you gotta have something and it's gotta be sweet, and it's gotta be a lot, and you gotta have it now?  Well, if you are doing a paleo diet like I am, not a blooming thing. Instead I am about to eat some *&^%$#@ broccoli, because "nothing satisfies a major food craving like broccoli", she said dryly.

  1. Oh dear. I like broccoli (which I discovered after I left home because my father didn't so it was never served). However a food craving satisfier? No.
I would swear a lot. And probably weaken and cheat.
I hope and assume you are better than me.

  2. I love broccoli as a vegetable eaten as a vegetable should be, but never when everything in me is screaming for something sweet, or starchy, or crunchy in a good and tasty way.
Right now I am eating the broccoli but the night is not over and possibilities abound!

  4. I have to say I have a broccoli salad that I do crave. Of course it has sweet dressing but also cheese bacon, and raisins so sweet and salty.A candy bar is probably as healthy.

    1. If I could have eaten loaded broccoli it would have hit all my cravings. Steamed broccoli just didn't do it for me at all.

  5. Good luck. I hate that feeling. I did succumb this past week to a donut craving.....it happens. I just need to make sure it isnt an all the time occurance.

    1. Oh I know! I am cutting myself a little slack one day in the next month maybe, but until then I really do need to stay the course. Of course I also need to have something available at all times to grab when these weird cravings hit.

  6. Last night we finally ran out of all the sweets from Christmas and I was at a loss to what to snack on. I had a peanut butter sandwich. Pretty good, but not quite like a piece of chocolate. However, it was a lot closer than a piece of broccoli.

    1. I would have been over the moon with a PBJ! Instead I ate the broccoli, which is nowhere near what my mouth wanted to eat.

    1. Yeah, no/low carbs make me a happy camper. Just ask anyone in my realm right now. They love the first week of my paleo cause I am so nice.

  8. How about adding hummus? That at least makes the broccoli tolerable. Or roasting it? Says the person eating chocolate dipped almonds. ;-)

    1. No beans or peas with paleo. I just was caught unprepared and was having intense cravings. (OK I was pissy because I really wanted to bake one of the gigantic frozen chocolate chip dough balls that live in my freezer)

  9. I have a couple of really dark 80% cocoa choc squares or a couple of prunes both healthy and nutritious and satisfy my cravings for something sweet. I'm doing dry January so sweet cravings increased if I succumbed to everything I wanted I may as well drink lol

  10. I should have made some things to have on hand, but I hadn't at the time. I definitely will next time though!

  11. I f*cking adore broccoli. It's always a fight though because, while my wife will eat it, it's not something I can get her to eat regularly. haha

    1. I will eat broccoli everyday. I like it fine but it was no substitute for the cookie dough in my freezer that was singing to me!
