This is a week of what didn't happen or "How can two people dine out or take out so many times in one week"
What was planned and what didn't happen
3. Crack chicken, Waldorf salad, broccoli
4. Steak, baked potato, tossed salad
5. Taco night
7. Baked stuffed sweet potato
We did pretty well on the eating out part of the plan. In fact we did so well that we managed to extend the eating out to 3 more meals.
I think I am going to change up the menu planning page next week, and start posting our meals on this rather than my on Monday weekday post. It makes more sense to me, and honestly will be easier for me.
Plan for Wednesday - Tuesday
1. Bbq dinner, pulled pork, smoked chicken, baked beans, coleslaw
2. Ball game or hurricane meal (whichever happens) Burgers
3. Spaghetti, tossed salad
4. Taco with all the fixings
5. Out to eat (You know that is going to happen at least once)
6. Leaving two days unplanned because we might head to the
7. beach. If not, we will eat whatever is easiest. I have tons to choose from in the freezer
At least you have a plan to not follow, we don't even have a plan. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a great ignorer of plans.
DeleteI am supposed to be at an outreach in Montgomery on Saturday morning. I do believe it may get rained out! Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteJudging by the latest forecast it does not look like anything good is headed this way.
DeleteWell, if you can afford eating out all the time, well, why not? :-))
ReplyDeleteThere really is no reason other than the overfilled freezer I have at home begging me to cook something.
DeleteI want to see certain people in concert before I die or they do. Arlo is one of them. James Taylor is another. Sweet Baby James was in St. Augustine last month but I couldn't go because I no longer have someone to go to concerts with me. I don't feel comfortable going alone. I can't drive after dark. I hope you get to go to the beach as long as it's in the opposite direction of the hurricane.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I met James Taylor years ago when I was catering for him when he was in town. Never got to see or meet Arlo though. I was backstage catering so many concerts I have no desire to go to big venues.
DeleteI didn't realize you catered. I can tell from your blog that you certainly had the talent and know-how for it. I hope James Taylor was nice to you. When he was younger I thought he was very good looking, but I didn't realize he was a heroin addict for years. His voice is still so smooth and beautiful. I can only afford one or two concerts a year, but I'm stuck with 0 concerts.
DeleteLove that song! At least you are making a meal plan. I decided not to bother, this week, with daughter out of town for a couple of days and the fridge full of leftovers!
ReplyDeleteI made a plan, I saw a plan, I totally ignored a plan
DeleteBurger King has coupons and specials, so that can take up at least a few days a week.
ReplyDeleteIt could couldn't it. Not sure I cold get TheHub to go along with that but I might try
DeleteI like a good week where we eat lots of our meals out! Mark is a retired CPA, and he most often says, "We have plenty to choose from here at home." Boring! The good news is that he has never been hard to please and will eat just about anything. He doesn't like Italian (red or white sauce), so now that it is the two of us, I rarely make it (except for the Young Adults on Tuesday night - they LOVE it!)
ReplyDeleteTHeHub will eat most anything (Retired CPA/CFO also. Maybe it is part of the number crunching personality) The only real problem with his eating is he likes different meals every day. It's hard when I am just cooking for 2
DeleteI love it -- Mark is not only a retired CPA, but also a retired CFO!! We have one more thing in common!
DeleteThe latest forecast looks like you'll be having that hurricane meal. But hurricanes have a habit of not following the forecast.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking kind of bleak for a ball game meal.
DeleteI wonder if I'd eat out more with my husband? He liked to spontaneously go fir lunch or dinner. I just gave so darn much food after cooking a meal so eating out seems more bother.
ReplyDeleteTheHub loves to eat out and would every night if I would agree to it. The real kicker is I am a pretty good cook and actually enjoy cooking most of the time.
DeleteI need to make crack chicken again. The first (and only) time, it was met with less-than stellar reviews.
ReplyDeleteWe like it, but I tend to add more too it than the original recipe calls for
DeleteI certainly hope that the hurricane meal doesn't occur!
ReplyDeleteAbout the worst we will get is tons of rain and potential tornados
DeleteYou will have to quit stocking up all together if you continue to eat out a lot. And that would be NO fun at all.
ReplyDeleteThen what will I do about all the money I've saved by buying at rock bottom prices and freezing stuff?
DeleteMoving the meal plan to the Wednesday post makes sense, that way you only have to ignore it in one place. The pulled pork with smoked chicken and baked beans sounds like a good start to the week. Hope the weather behaves enough for the beach.
ReplyDeleteTHe beach did not happen this week. Maybe next weekend!
DeleteYou know, I am learning how to cook for three of us as opposed to so many more. Sometimes it is easier to order out, and I really need to work on that. I used to be so good at meal planning! With the kins mostly scattered, and us having no strict schedule, I am a hot mess.
ReplyDeleteI am finding that I just don't care anymore. I don't particularly like cooking for just two
ReplyDeleteI have stopped even posting my weekly menu. It just makes life easier. LOL
ReplyDeleteTruth!
