Old Dog Seeking New Trick

Does anyone but me dislike the new blogger format?  I already know what I wrote, so why do I want it to pop up on the screen when I open blogger?  What I want to see is what all y'all (Southern term implying a bunch of y'all) have written. I like to see what everyone else is doing and what is interesting in your lives.  I am quite boring enough that I don't need to see/read about it again once it is written.  I find having to scroll down to the reader's list to get to the good stuff a pain in the rear. (Yeah, I know.  First world problems)

Does anyone out there know some handy trick I don't know that can change my setting so I see what I want to see  first (your posts) rather than looking at crap I wrote.

Waiting and hoping for relief!

  1. Yes, hate the new format, now you have to go into comments (I screen all mine) just to see I have new ones where it used to notify you. No tricks, if you find some please share

    1. I have never had trouble with comments so it hadn't dawned on me to screen mine, but what a bummer to have to work harder to see if you have comments. I am still waiting for the brilliant mind who has discovered a short cut, but so far, no dice!

  2. Hiss and spit from me too. The details they have decided I want first are the details I tended to look at last. If at all.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it is something the blogger boffins need to take on board.

    1. Looks like everyone is in agreement. I guess that and 5 bucks will get us a coffee from Starbucks.

  3. I HATE the new format! I agree with you Anne....I miss being able to access the blogs I follow first! I don't need to see what my most recent post was. I am also having trouble with the refresh of the screen on my reading list. Sometimes it won't update and I have to retype/refresh the entire blogger site. Grrrr! The Blogger Gods should have never messed with a good thing!

    1. Maybe they are doing it for those who are more serious about their own blogs than I am. I like to read everyone else's mainly.

  4. I don't like the new style, either. When I get comfortable with something, Blogger changes it.

  5. I don't like it. The worst part for me, as Cheapchick said is that I have to click on "comments," then on "awaiting moderation" just to see if I have any comments. I sent feedback to blogger asking them if they could at least put a little notification number next to "comments" so that I know if I have any new comments. Too many clicks! I bookmarked the reading list page into my bookmarks bar so that it goes directly to that page and bypasses the "post" page. Yeah, I hate when they change things up when it's not necessary.

    2. Ooh, bookmarking the "reading list page" is a great idea! I think I'll do that too. Good thinking

  6. I hate the new format too. I'm not even able to click on reader list on one of my tablets.

  7. i barely use the blogger dashboard, i go to my blog in the same way i would if i was a reader/ follower. I dont know why i do that except that's what i always did. It seems that for once my inefficient ways have saved me a drama!

  8. I hate it too! I think sometimes they change things just to change them. It was fine the way it was!

    1. Maybe it makes their operations more efficient? Who knows?

  9. I don't like the new format either, but I figured that was because I wasn't used to it. But since this is a free service, I'm getting what I paid for.

    1. I agree about the free part. I was just hoping someone more technically savvy than I am knew some brilliant hack.

  10. Still figuring it all out. I don't like change very well.

  11. Hate isn't a strong enough word. I completely despise it. I was waiting for someone to write a post about how awful it is. Thank-you Anne! I was starting to think I was alone in my extreme hatred for the new format. Like you, I don't want to see a list of my posts (and I have more than one blog. It only shows the list for one of them, so the other two are virtually non-existent unless I click over to them).

I want the overview back! I want to see a list of blogs I follow when I log in, not useless nonsense. Like you said, I already know what I posted. AND I moderate comments. It does not indicate anywhere whether or not I have a comment to moderate so I have to click over to the comment moderation section every time I check in to check IF there's been a comment left. Yes, first world problems BUT a waste of time is a waste of time and that's an everyone problem that blogger has just created for the lot of us.

Sigh, I could complain all day about how much this new format is bothering me. At least I know I'm not alone :)

  12. I am so confused and don't like it either. I am challenged enough without help from on high.

  13. I'm slowly getting around to understanding the new format. It changed at the same time my phone changed and I end up leaving multiple comments on peoples blogs, but not sure if format, or my phone. I miss seeing the headlines when I first log in as well. I guess I'll get used to it, but did prefer the old.

    1. We get used to everything eventually, but I will still continue to look for a way to do it differently

Hey y'all thanks for leaving a comment. They are much appreciated. I read them all and do my best to respond to them, except for trolls or spam and I delete those suckers forever.
