It is 9:45 here at the lake and I am enjoying a lazy night in. While the rest of you are dressed in sparkly spangly things I am sitting here in a flannel gown waiting for the last load of clothes to be done. My mother always said if you go into a new year with dirty laundry you never catch up for the entire year. While I am not buying into the concept totally, I did bring 9 loads of laundry with me. No sense in taking unnecessary chances, right?
OK, if I am going to be totally honest, our water service is adding excessive usage fees during the current drought. We are already paying through the wahzoo monthly for a huge and very shady sewer deal that landed all involved with it in jail (Yes, Alabama has some issues with political corruption) so we have been bringing our laundry to the lake every month where our water bill is consistently under 25 bucks a month. Does anyone else think 400 percent for overage is a tad high?
Oh enough of the ramblings!
What I really want to do is send each of you my sincerest wishes for a wonderful and blessed 2017, so
Happy New Year All Y'all!
Happy New Year to you too Anne!
ReplyDelete'Bama corruption's got nothing on PA. lol
Makes me happy I vote.
DeleteActually Sluggy, it's just as bad here as in NEPA, maybe even worse. :-(
DeleteIt's nice isn't it?
DeleteAnd a very Happy New Year to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteNothing spangly here. The New Year arrived without any assistance from me. I decided that she knew the way, and was right.
Water is a big issue over here too. If I had the money I would install rain-water tanks for washing and watering. It pisses me off that we use drinking water to flush our toilets and so many people don't have access to safe water for anything.
I wish we had composting toilets. Maybe I just need to move to the country and have an outhouse
DeleteHappy New Year, Anne. I wore yoga pants and sweatshirt to my sister's. Keeping it classy! Bummer on the water situation.
ReplyDeleteIf I had gone to my sisters I would have kept on my sweats, but here with just us meant a nightgown.
DeleteHappy New Year Anne!
ReplyDeleteLittle Abe and I were asleep by 8:30 (my husband was at work). We did drink sparkling grape juice though and eat mozzarella sticks. Oh yeah, we know how to party!
It's funny that you said that about the laundry though because Friday my mom told me that she'd heard for the first time, "if you have a clean home and clean laundry and money in your pocket it's going to be a good year." So now I've heard about the clean laundry two times in three days (for the first time in my life) and whata-ya-know my house has tons of dirty laundry in it. Oops
I have pretty much always heard it all my life, but my house wasn't clean. Rats!
DeleteHappy New Year Anne! We stayed home and let Rebecca stay up for the first time. We played Scrabble and watched the ball drop in our pjs. It was totally relaxing and fun. As for the laundry, I have always heard the same thing as well. I did 6 loads yesterday to get it all done, with the last load being done at 11pm. House was cleaned up (mostly), all trash was taken out, a little bit of $ was in our wallets and all laundry was done.
ReplyDeleteI forgot abut the money in the wallet thing and only had a small amount. I think TheHub had a lot ore than I did (at least I hope so)
DeleteHappy New Year Anne - I stayed in too though I was invited to a party at the last minute. I looked especially lovely wearing my base layer after taking a long walk yesterday. The kitties don't mind :) The big problem I have is with electricity rates going up and up and up. So I do all laundry on Sunday. Then there all of the new carbon taxes, which I don't mind, but what assurances do I have that the $$ will be used properly? If you thought "none" while reading this you are correct!
ReplyDeleteThat is precisely my issue with the ridiculous overage charge. More money but no changes!
ReplyDeleteWow and I thought our water was high. Happy New year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, with less drama to you too!
DeleteHappy New Year! I hope you weekend at the lake was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt was restful and filled with laundry and football so all was good!
DeleteHappy New Year, Anne. Wish you and your family all the best in 2017.
ReplyDeleteLikewise Bless! Hope this will be great for all of us!
