Positively Monday

Each week I post the best things that happen every day of the week.  It helps me focus on good rather than dwelling on unpleasant things. Some weeks are easier than others, but each day brings something good as long as I look for it. The bad thing about this week is it is a holiday weekend here, and I forgot it was Monday (feels like Sunday) until just now!

Monday: Got the freezer cleaned, the auxiliary fridge cleaned and the freezer in the kitchen fridge cleaned.  Now I have an absolute current count of the available foods.  Bonus: the citrus infused white wine is ready just in time for summer__ and it is delicious.

Tuesday: Took My Beloved Sister to have her colonoscopy and everything looked great!

Wednesday: Class was great and Mom was angry with me so she had very little to say to me today.

Thursday: Another tree service guy called me back and gave us a bid for Mom's tree work. (There is so much tree work around and not enough bonded and insured folks to do the work that non emergency tree removals are being put on the back burner.  It is like pulling teeth just to get them out to give a ridiculously high bid)

Friday: Went to the lake early to meet the a/c guy. He had the correct part on his truck and was in and out in about 2 hours.  So what did I do the remainder of the day? Napped on the screened porch then went shopping.  Great day!

Saturday: Got 2 big jobs at the lake place completed.  This has been bugging me for months and now they are behind me.

Sunday: We came home from the lake early in the afternoon, changed clothes and headed to Atlanta to pick up Son3 for a few days visit. (He had flown in there to spend a couple of days there before coming here).  TheHub and I had a couple of hours of conversation, we picked up Son3, ate dinner and headed home. So TheHub and I had another couple of hours of conversation while Son3 slept in the back seat.

    1. I am actively looking for lovely things each and every day! I can always find at least one. They are mostly small things, but compared with a lot of people my life is fairly ordinary.

  3. Sounds like it was a very positive week, even with your mom being angry with you! Glad your sister's test results were good.

It's incredible what people want to cut down and remove a tree, isn't it? I had a dead tree in my backyard, several years ago. I went at it with a handsaw! One of my neighbors saw me and lent me his chainsaw. I had that tree cut down in a couple of hours! Took a bit longer to remove the stump, though. Now, I want to trim the eucalyptus tree and people want a fortune! I need to buy myself a chainsaw!

Hope you have another positive week ahead!

    1. Mom's tree is huge, and old oak with a circumference of 7 or so feet. It is also very close to the house and needs to be removed form the top down. It is going to be a big job and they are budgeting 2 days to remove it and grind the stump. I have a chainsaw and there is no way I would even begin to touch this one.

  4. If the tree people have a lot of work or sense it could be a difficult job because your mother might be picky, they may be trying to price themselves out of a job. Meaning if they price it high enough, that there is no way you'd ask them to do it. I have seen work people do that before.

    1. Right now it is simply the area we live in with a vast amount of tree damage. Just yesterday a tree fell on a house about 2 blocks from here. When you ride just in my neighborhood there are trees down everywhere. There are literally not enough people to do the amount of work, however next fall firewood should be pretty darn cheap because so many of the trees are big oaks and big hickory trees.

  5. Sounds like a great week to me. I actually ended up having a nice time with my father who was visiting from Georgia and then my wife and I spent a long weekend in San Diego at Sea World and the food festival. Was pretty nice! :)
