Right now, we are planning a beach trip in a couple of weeks, the days are getting warmer and warmer and I am thinking nothing but sand, ocean waves and/ or swimming in my pool. Getting ready for St. Nick is the last thing on my mind
I gave it the old college try making the Bolivian candy as an inclusion possibility for a Christmas candy tray. It was a big fail, and after both of us tried a piece, I threw it out. I am going to try once more and see if it was a recipe failure or a user failure. It could have been either.
I Had other things that were more important to me than messing around in the dreaded upstairs room of horrors, and feel no inclination to sort, discard and repack said holiday decorations right now.
I might do better next week, but probably not!
Ho ho ho or Ho Hum, your choice
Too bad the candy experiment didn't work out. Hopefully, the next try of the recipe will give better results. If not, I guess you'll find another recipe to try.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll be more in the mood to sort out the holiday decorations closer to the holidays?
I have never lost a bit of sleep over a recipe failure. Most of the time I can reformat it into something else. This time I didn't even try.
DeleteIt's hard to think about Christmas when it's hot outside. I think you should just concentrate on your beach trip.
ReplyDeleteThe beach trip is set now, all but the packing and going. The Portland crew is meeting us there so that will do my heart even better than just being at gulf.
DeleteI look forward to hearing more about your beach trip. A shame about the Bolivean candy though.
ReplyDeleteRecipes work or they don't. It is just a few ingredients and a little time. Generally I know what something will taste like just by reading the ingredients. This time I guess I didn't.
DeleteWas the candy not fit to eat? Or, was it consistency? I cannot imagine throwing out candy. It is getting hot enough for beach thoughts. Practical Parsimony
ReplyDeleteWe just did not like it. It was a bit too sweet
DeleteI'm thinking you're a pretty imaginative and creative cook, so if something failed, it was likely the recipe.
ReplyDeleteNo thinking of Christmas here either. Like you, I have a trip to look forward to. :)
I am going to try the candy again, but do a couple of things a tad differently. Recipes are just suggestions anyway.
DeleteI see so much Christmas stuff second hand. Sometimes I look but not always, although some of our cutest decorations have come to us second hand.
ReplyDeleteI am going to put everything on our local FB buy nothing page and give it away.
