Use It, Use It, and Use Some More, (Fail) Week 2

You will notice that this weeks list begins on Thursday. If I have early morning obligations breakfast goes out the window and I opt to have coffee only, because coffee fits in the drink holder in my car. Most of these obligations lasted well into the afternoon, and then I would either grab something to eat while I was out or just wait until I got home in the late afternoon and eat cold leftovers. Dinners?  We went out to eat Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday I was planing on making chicken scaloppine for our anniversary dinner, but TheHub decided at the last minute he wanted steak.  I have steaks in the freezer but they were not the cut he wanted so I made a special trip to buy them. It is not a big deal since we only give each other cards for our anniversary, but it does nothing for knocking out my freezer stash.  At this rate I am not going to have any room for Thanksgiving turkey in the freezer. Craptastic!

I need to get all my ducks in a row and do some serious freezer eating during the next two weeks. Son1 and his family will be here the 19th for 2 weeks and Son3 flies in for the long Thanksgiving weekend with a friend.  I am going to need freezer space for a turkey plus some additional general food items.  I have to get my rear in gear and also do some serious  cooking and cleaning too.  Ugh!

    1. I think we just need to eat more or start having a small dinner party every few days. That actually might spur me to clean more/deeper__or not!

  2. It's a good thing I rarely amke a Turkey as I'd nevr have room-I suppose it coudl go in the garge freezer, which we have now unplugged with our small household. Two boxes of toaster strudle are getting in my way, so DD gets an unusual brekfast treat tomorrow. Yep, a DH purchase.

    1. I can't tell you how often I choose something for a meal just because it takes up too much room. (I am not the one who buys over processed items either)

  3. I need to get out the one turkey in my refrigerator freezer that has probably been there since the first of the year. Maybe I can fit two turkeys in there and thaw one to cook. Plus, my freezer has frozen coke all inside, enough so that is looks really nasty.

    1. TheHub puts carbonated drinks in the freezer then forgets about them. I find them the next morning sometimes before they explode and sometimes not. It really pisses me off!

  4. You could always wait until a week before Thanksgiving to buy the turkey and just thaw it in the fridge. Of course if you're like me, and often buy an extra turkey for later while they're cheap, you'd need freezer space for that. Won't be doing that this year, though; my freezer is too full also.

    1. I could but I am going to have houseguests from the 19-2 and I am going to need my fridge space for that too. Hopefully I can rearrange tomorrow to gain a little more room. Also I have already moved 4 things from the freezer to the meat drawer so I will cook at least 4 packs of something!

  5. Craptastic!-Yes, I understand. We are at critical mass with the freezer situation. Yes, it is now a situation. There is no room for anything. Plus we overspent this weekend and need to save money. We are eating down the stash or there will be no Thanksgiving turkey. Hey, do you think people would notice if we didn't serve normal Thanksgiving food and just served like old BBQ hamburgers and pulled pork as side dishes?

    1. We are actually smoking a butt for the weekend, but if I didn't have turkey and dressing (especially the leftovers) I think there would be a family mutiny!

  6. This is why I don't have a freezer - YES, I admit it! I would be a food hoarder, or more likely, I would forget what was down in the depths of my freezer. I remember my brother pulling out a roast from his freezer that was dated in the l970's!!

  7. The hard part is stores need room for turkeys so they mark great stuff down we buy it have no room for turkeys. Vicious cycle.
