I had a menu planned for the week, but forgot to allow for leftover meals. From now on if we have a veggie meal on the plan, I am going to have an additional leftover meal planned at least partially around the excess.
The food ads are less than stellar this week, so other than cherry picking some shelf stable longer term storage items, I need little. Looks like I will actually only have to have a little bit of produce. The upside is that cooking for the next 7 days will result in using foods I already have on hand.
Other than that I've got nothing, or maybe a little something
Deconstructed lasagna, tossed salad
Meatloaf, rice, broccoli
1. Deconstructed Lasagna, tossed salad
2. Hamburgers with all the fixings, coleslaw, baked beans
3. Dijon chicken, rice, broccoli, sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers
4. Lady peas, squash casserole, tomato cucumber onion salad
5. BLT salad
6. Out to eat
7. Leftovers or stuffed peppers with leftovers
Have a great time staying on plan, going off plan, or with no plan at all
Sounds like a great plan, Anne. Good idea to include a plan for the leftovers. :)
ReplyDeleteIt only took me until I was this old to go ahead and plan a leftover meal.
DeleteMade a meatloaf for my husband yesterday too. I cook daily, but mixed with some leftover.
ReplyDeleteI love a good meatloaf!
Delete5 out of 7 again this week...I think that's really good. As soon as it cools off a bit here, I want to make lasagna rolls. I have a serious craving for them.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting lasagne, but not enough to turn on the oven which is why I am doing the deconstructed version.
DeleteUntil 8 years ago, I'd never tasted squash casserole --- and now I wonder whatever took me so long!
ReplyDeleteMy MIL made the best one I had ever tasted,. Luckily I was in her kitchen often when she made it. She had no recipe for it but she had a method. Mine is not quite as good as hers because I do not put buttered bread crumbs on top of mine, but it is dang close.
DeleteYour meals sound terrific. I'm getting a little tired of cooking for my daughter - we'll plan a meal and then she'll decide she's not hungry and will eat later. Today is a good example, dinner was BBQ'd chicken, garlic rice, with corn (a leftover) on the side. I did the chicken, she made the rice, and then decided she would make a chicken wrap later. Having leftovers on the plan works for us too.
ReplyDeleteLeftovers are a gift. I usually have to change their format a little because TheHub is not a big leftover fan, except for veggie meals.
DeleteWe are none of perfect, but we try. I like the look of your meal plan.

I am always so far from perfect it is not even funny. I like the look of the meal plan too, but the true test is what winds up actually happening. Everything in my life is subject to change on a dime.
DeleteMeal planning needs to be on the back burner. My house is still invaded by cats and offspring. Love them all but want my own routine back. Shes become a bit picky and not a fan of meat except in some things or as sone things, plus no clue if shes here her place, or out at meals. Doing a lot of winging it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes winging it is all you can do. I have had a boatload of those times.
