And that brings me to this week. I am sure the vegetables will change since our weekly ads are published on Wednesday, and I have no idea what I will be buying, but I know I will need some things since I am almost out of all produce now. This week I will continue using foods from the freezer and pantry, so most of the meals are based on what I have on hand. As I continue to use things I am replenishing a couple of bargain items.
I decided I will allow an additional 100 dollars for stock up items. The Pig has ground chuck this week for its bi-annual lowest price. I am freezing it for the future but will put it in a different section of the freezer so I can use the longest frozen stuff first. They also have a great deal on chicken leg quarters. I will get them, cook the chicken, take it off the bone and return the bones to the cooking pot to make a really rich broth. Then the cooked chicken will be frozen in individual meal packs as will the broth.
This weeks possibilities
1. Stuffed baked potatoes with bbq chicken, cheese, peppers, and onions with a side of coleslaw
2. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cucumber tomato salad
3. Pork tenderloin, assorted green salad, rice(TheHub) cauli rice (me) carrots, keto bread or roll
4. Weiners kraut, cooked carrots, cornbread, unknown veggie
5. Fettuccine alfredo , noodles (TheHub) zucchini (me), huge tossed salad, rolls or keto bread
6. Mexicanish chicken casserole, coleslaw, tortilla chips (TheHub)
7. Ham and cheese frittata, tossed salad, keto french toast
As usual this is completely subject to change, except for the stuffed baked potatoes. Tomorrow night is a big ball game night here so we need easy ball game food and it does not get easier than this, right? I will go ahead and say Roll Tide! Win, lose or draw we will still be Tide fans.

You are doing well. We are still in salad mode and it is too hot to eat much. Which should result in the incredible shrinking woman. But doesn't.
ReplyDeleteHave fun - and enjoy the game.
I am sorry you are in the middle of a heat wave, and I surely understand how it kills your appetite for anything other than cool stuff. And forget about cooking!
DeleteWe are in a freaky warming trend right now. Today is supposed to be 69 (20ish? c) and I have gotten rid of all my spring and summer weight clothes. Not exactly sure what I am going to wear.
Stop in from Living Rich on the cheap. Sound like your produce could make a start of good salad.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time stop in for a cup of coffee
Thanks for stopping by Dora!
DeleteYou are doing great! I need to inventory our food again, now that we've been back & forth a bit, and I froze a bunch of stuff the night before we left for our vacation.
ReplyDeleteI really do feel like I am making progress. I understand about freezing more. I keep doing it but I am keeping it separate from the stuff I am trying to use. I understand the concept of food storage and replenishing what you use but things get pushed back and hidden in the recesses of the freezer. I need to be better organized.
DeleteI thought about you when I heard who was in the championships. Have fun with the game and the snacks. Isn't that really why we watch football?
ReplyDeleteMust be, since TheHub has been worried about what food we are having during the game all week!
DeleteHey great at using things and yes stock up when prices are low. Have fun at the ball game.
ReplyDeleteThe ball game was painful to watch, but I am always a fan!
DeleteWhat is Mexicanish chicken casserole? Would you share the recipe?
ReplyDeleteI will post it when I make it (possibly tonight for dinner)
DeleteI've been working on reducing freezer items as well and am happy with how things have turned out as I can now see some space in there :) I am trying, as per your example and a couple others, to plan meals in advance so that I'm not buying random, and therefore useless, items when I shop. I would say I am making some progress in the right direction but not all the way there yet!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is any way anyone could do an all the way clean out unless they were getting rid of a freezer totally. I am just tired of redundant purchases. Obviously this is far beyond the kitchen. When I was cleaning the bedroom bath, I found 13 bottles of lotions and about 10 containers of dental floss. It's nuts!
DeleteSounds like you are doing a good job eating down the freezer! I'll do my freezer inventory over the next couple of days.
ReplyDeleteI am trying, but sometimes life gets in the way!
DeleteJust found your blog and I love your upbeat style of writing. Freezer eating for us as well. Thankfully got some older stuff out even though it meant sharing 1 chicken breast for dinner and have PB&J later on in the evening.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patty! I can't tell you how many bits and pieces we have shared the last month or so. Now I am tackling the proteins that have been lingering for a bit. (Yeah, as I add new things to the freezer, go figure that!)
DeleteI'm a Tide fan too, which doesn't make me too popular, buy I don't care. Your menus sound great. I haven't made as much of a dent in the freezer as I was expecting, but the month is still young.
ReplyDeleteThen a big Roll Tide to you! It was a brutal game, but such is life. TheHub and I met at the U of A and married when we were still there.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to make a big dent when I keep filling it back up!
I am in awe of you continuing to write meal plans!
ReplyDeleteDon't be in awe and it is certainly not because I like doing it. My freezer was bursting at the gills and I needed to get stuff used and out so I can stuff it to the gills again.
DeleteHappy New Year! Sounds like you're doing pretty well. And this is the time of year where we're always dipping into our pantry and freezer for meals -- mainly because we're making a lot of soup, and that's a good way to use up all sorts of odds and ends. Fun read -- thanks.
ReplyDeleteSoups and stews are a great way to gather the fragments. I just overbought last year and need to clear out space for future bargains. Hope you have a Happy Year as well!
DeleteWatched the game, too bad for the Crimson Tide! What a game though. Your menu sounds great, I'm going to have to start planning it as well as you do. Have a wonderful rest of the week, Anne!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun game to watch mainly if you were pulling for Clemson, but who can dislike Dabo? I have to plan it. My freezer has been ridiculously overstuffed.
DeleteRoll Tide! Yes a stuffed potato sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteAlways a fan, Roll Tide!
