This week's 'Tuesday 4
is a hodgepodge of questions.
1. Did you have a favorite cartoon program or character as a young person, or even today?
I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle and also The Bullwinkle show, though I did not ever see them as nighttime programs. It was only when they were Saturday morning cartoons that I first watched them. I guess sarcasm was my preferred language even as a kid.
The best thing about Saturday morning was watching early cartoons while Mom and Dad slept (It was the only day of the week they were not up and at 'em). My sister and I would sit on the den floor, glued to the TV until they woke. I feel sorry for kids today who do not get the experience of that magical Saturday morning ritual.
2. Can you whole heartedly give people a second chance or do you find yourself still worried about trusting them?
I grew up with the best grudge holder in the entire world and I decided at a pretty young age that I did not want to live like that. It might take a bit more time than just hearing an apology, but after I mull it over a bit I am all about giving second chances.
3. Are there things/activities you'd like to add to your life or do you feel have enough to do, going on etc. to keep you satisfied?
I really would like to write more than I do, entertain more, laugh more, be around people I love more, travel more,
Like most Americans I should get more exercise (anxiously waiting for the pool water to be ready for swimming) and I should keep house better than I do, but I find housework other than the necessities pretty boring.
But in all honesty I have a home, a husband who loves me in spite of how I am sometimes, good friends, great neighbors (mostly), and I am pretty satisfied with my life.
4. Can you live without your phone, TV, social media?
I would love to be able to answer this with a huge yes, but I would be lying. I am not attached to my phone, in fact I often have no clue where in the house I left it.
I am not a huge social media person and only have a Facebook and Blogger account that I use. I do have an Instagram account that is only used when Son3 or Dil3 have a gig somewhere that is live streaming the performance through Instagram. It is the only reason I ever bothered to get one.
Facebook I use mainly to see pictures of my friends kids or grand kids. I don't read or care to read people's opinions about much of anything, so I don't. I guess the only things I ever read on FB are the articles Sean Dietrich writes, which are always shared by a couple of my friends.
Blogger? Well, I would not be writing this right now if not for the blogging social outlet. I have "met" some wonderful people through this medium and enjoy sharing bits and pieces of others lives through it, Occasionally though I get a little TMI!
TV? Honestly TheHub and I watch it nearly every night. It is not used at all during the day, but after we eat we like to sit in the den and watch some episodic show. We just watched the final episode of Ozark, and will have to find another show to amuse ourselves. Any suggestions?
My favorite part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show was always Fractured Fairy Tales
Come on and play along!
Oh, I forgot about Rocky and Bullwinkle. Yes, I watched them too! We had a lot of great cartoons back in the day. Most of them today are considered too violent, etc., but for pete's sake...they are nothing compared to the trash people watch today, and don't get me started on the video games kids are playing...now THAT'S violent! Horrific even. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your answers...all great thoughts. I don't have any ideas for shows. We watch a lot of oldies...right now going back through the old Alfred Hitchcock show. Interesting how many good "moral to the story" kind of shows he had. I never realized it before. Anyway, we go through one series after another, just for good fun. Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteI started rewatching Alfred Hitchcock. It is an interesting show where the ones on the downside of morality meet their personal karma.
DeletePEANUTS with Charlie Brown is my favorite cartoon because I can relate to poor Charlie. I always have trust issues because of my first marriage. I need to be crocheting nylon scrubbies again because my family is demanding them. Yes, I must have my cell phone and computers.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty trusting and when it is violated I will be wary for a bit until it can be earned again, but I never shut down the possibilities of restored trust.
Delete1. "Rocky and Bullwinkle!" Yes, my favorite as well. I watched it as a Saturday program too when I was about 4. "Wassa Madda U" still finds its way into my vernacular.
ReplyDelete2. It depends on who it is/situation/how they handle it. I call husband/kids out constantly. Others, I don't really care about. If they don't recognize the harm, then I write them off. I allow few into my inner circle, so it's not really an issue.
3. I would like to start running again, but my joints aren't agreeing. I'd like to travel, but I can't due to husband's health/stupid damn animals in the house. My kids aren't very responsible. (See number 2)
4. I do not have a phone, beyond a landline. A mobile just represented more responsibility for me. I deleted my FB for several years. I only started another account to stay in touch with extended relatives on the east coast, and read local community pages. I could easily do without it again, as long as the U.S. Mail system doesn't deteriorate further. I like a few t.v. programs, but, could probably survive with streaming services and my laptop. I do like email, ad do like reading blogs, but in a pinch, I can do without.
I would be fine with streaming services too, but TheHub loves to be able to access sports and the Gold channel.
DeleteHello! Well, I love cartoons. Still! My favorite is Scooby Doo!!! I dislike exercise. Really dislike. I am looking forward to swimming in the lake. And we just finished Ozark last night! I hated to see it end. We watch an episode or two of Seinfeld every night before bed.
ReplyDeleteTo me swimming laps is not exercise, it is just enjoyment!
DeleteWe had a great Saturday morning ritual us 4 kids. Mom had 4 of us in 3 years. Saturday mornings were golden. I too loved Rocky and Bull Winkle, I guess sarcasm is my thing.
ReplyDeleteThose who know me know it was probably my first language!
DeleteFun questions!
ReplyDeleteI watched Land of the Lost as a kid. Cheesy but fun.
Unfortunately I don't trust again easily.
I would love to travel. If covid ever ends...
I could live without my phone. I deactivated my fb way back in 2016, and I don't miss it at all. We do watch tv at night, and I'm liking the new Star Trek, Strange New Worlds. Also watching a Korean series on netflix, called Tomorrow, about a team of grim reapers who are trying to keep people from committing suicide. Some of the stories are so sad. Dh likes anime, so I usually go to sleep while he is watching those. ;)
I think Land of the Lost was a little after my Saturday cartoon time. I will check out Tomorrow. Not sure TheHub will like it, but we never know until we watch an episode.
DeleteTomorrow definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, but we are strange and unusual. :D
DeleteIf you do watch an episode, A Soul becomes a Star, is the best one.
Blogging is pretty much it for me on the social media front. I am endlessly grateful I found it though. I learn from bloggers. I laugh with them, and weep with and for them too.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, sarcasm was a language I learned early and well...
Blogging is the only interactive social media I do other than occasionally commenting on the cute kids I see on Facebook
DeleteI loved all your answers and agree with pretty much everything you said. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful week also Kristin!
DeleteSo oddly, I loved Scooby Doo. Still do. I wish I didn't hold grudges but if someone really wronged me or mine and didn't see their issue, yeah, I'll be bitter. I can overlook a lot, but not intentional harm.
ReplyDeleteScooby Doo was a good cartoon. I read a quote one time about grudges and I am paraphrasing it because I don't remember it exactly. Holding a grudge is giving another rent free space in your mind.
DeleteNext to the Flintstones (... they're the modern stone-age fam-ily!), Rocky and Bullwinkle were the best.
ReplyDeleteThe Flintstones were great. When my oldest son was born all of my cousins called him Bam Bam because they looked very much alike.
DeleteFractured Fairy Tales were the best! I was a Looney Tune fan mostly.
ReplyDeleteFractured Fairy Tales were my favorite!
DeleteHi there. Found your blog thru another that shan’t be named where you were treated so rudely by leaving simple smart advice. I’m so you were bullied by someone like that! She can be so nasty and doesn’t seem to accept reality or good advice. I do hope she gets to her OWN home with the help of her children or a social service. She shouldn’t be in an abusive home and she needs to get her own place period.
ReplyDeleteWater off a duck's back. You can't be bullied by anyone unless you agree to be.
DeleteI grew up without TV, so no experience with Saturday morning cartoons! But, as a teen, I discovered Loony Tunes and Tom and Jerry and enjoyed watching those! :D
ReplyDeleteSecond chances? Yes, I've given some people second and even third chances and wished I hadn't.
Yes, I guess I should add exercise to my list of activities! Need to take up walking, again, and slowly build up. Maybe make it my summer goal!
I could live without TV or social media, but, I don't want to be without a phone. How would I call for help, if there is a medical emergency, if I didn't have a phone?
Good questions! :)
I will freely admit to watching cartoons as a teen!
DeleteI'm still amazed that they can make a cartoons about a cat chasing a mouse and I STILL find it hilarious!
ReplyDeleteTom and Jerry are/were funny cartoons.
DeleteAnd if we mention the Flintstones, we have to mention the Jetsons. But Rocky and Bullwinkle may be the best.
ReplyDeleteOh I loved the Jetsons also.
DeleteRocky and Bullwinkle were awesome. I speak sarcasm too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I learned sarcasm about as soon as I could talk thanks to a bunch of older sarcastic cousins I was around all the time.
DeleteThat was a fun show. I forgot about that one. That is nice of you to give people second chances. I would love to laugh more and travel more. I'm so tired of being in the house. I'm so glad you are satisfied with you life. I enjoy Facebook for similar reasons. I have an Instagram account and say photos once in awhile. I do like texting on my cell phone. I don't like talking on a cell phone. I like our landline.
ReplyDeleteI have spent the day being a virtual babysitter for my granddaughter. She is sick and had to stay home from school, and though my son works from home and is physically with her, I was thrilled to have my cell phone to be able to FaceTime with her (appx. 30 different times today) so he could get some actual work done.
DeleteWe did not have a tv until I was fourteen, so no memories of cartoons for me. Wily Coyote and the Roadrunner were my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI will give someone a second chance, some people not at all. And, it depends on what the person did.
The things I would like to add to my life are impossible because of disability. Or, maybe I am making excuses. ???
I have my cell phone so I can get help if i need it while out and about. I need it to make appointments. Plus, I like to keep up with friends. I have fb and rarely go there. I have no other social media. I hate to text, only want to talk. Now, I do love email. But, I rarely check it.
I love your honest answers. Regine.

We don't watch much TV. My husband paid for a month of Netflix, as part of my Mother's Day gift, so I could watch season two of Bridgerton while I was traveling. We'll cancel it at the end of the month. In the meantime, I'm enjoying watching other shows while I work out in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteFor activities, I'd love to work less, & do more things with neighbors & friends. Generally, I think I have a pretty good balance, & can say that I actually work out enough (not always the perfect split between cardio, strength & stretching, but in total, it's plenty).
