Oh no just 49 weeks till Christmas

The 49th week until Christmas has just ended and I am still on my quest to do something toward Christmas 2025 each week.  This is my recap of the week.

I found an old man caroler at an agreeable price and ordered him. He is in the process of being shipped, so that will bring the number I have acquired to 3.  I forgot I have a young girl here already (I bought it to represent DIL1 before I decided we needed age appropriateness with the carolers) so that only leaves me 3 figures to search for.
I even remembered our former pup carolers which look remarkably like our granddogs. Before I decide to include them though, I need to decide if I am willing to look for cat carolers that resemble Ella and Lola (grandcats).

I have an app connected with our library that I use to read books but there are some other things I can use it for. One advantage of the Libby app is the ability to look through magazines. I searched Christmas themed magazines and loaded 15 or so a few to look through. I found magazines for handmade gifts,  decorating ideas, and of course Christmas foods. I have already added a few things that piqued my interest to my Christmas folder .
I found instructions for some handmade gifts and thought I might try chocolate rose bath bombs. I could give them to the DIL's for Valentines as a test run.

My main plan for the week was to start sorting all my existing Christmas decorations and have keep it or coast it decisions for each item. Just because I have had it forever is no reason to keep things I no longer  use.
I have a large cedar closet that is filled  to the brim with decorations for each holiday, and being empty nesters I just do not need it all. With the days being a lot colder, and me being made for hot weather it seemed like a good idea to just plan on staying in the house and doing something productive.

Well yesterday I did stay at home, but never ventured upstairs where the mess Christmas decorations are in boxes all over the room instead of the closet stored.

Instead I stayed in the den to watch what was happening on the world front,  improve my mind with intellectual pursuits, deep clean  curl up with a fluffy blanket and browse all the magazines I downloaded on the Libby app. In fact I enjoyed browsing them so much it seems I browsed, wrapped in my blanket cocoon, for a while with my eyes closed.

This is a new week and hope springs eternal, right? Now if I can just jingle my way upstairs, because week 48 has begun.

  1. Today, being wrapped in a blanket cocoon sounds fabulous! I have the day off so I am enjoying being in sweats! Also, I need to clean the house but it will not be happening today.

  2. I have everything I need to make hot cocoa bombs and I am trying them out on a few people for Valentines Day to see how well they are liked. Great minds think a like.

    1. Like you, I thought Valentine's day is the perfect trial time. It will either work or it won't. but I will know far in advance to either make them in November or forget the idea entirely.

  4. I have been wrapped up for a few days. It looks like I have a few more to go. I hate weather this cold. It would be fun if there were little children here. I do need hot chocolate but not the calories.

    1. I enjoy an occasional cup of hot chocolate, but more than a couple of times in winter is plenty for me. Black coffee is my go to hot beverage

  5. We need pictures of carolers so we can all look for them. It would be a nation wide search.a

  6. I really like your idea of starting with Christmas plans now. There are already too many things between now and then for me to think about Christmas. I'll follow along with you, however, and maybe be inspired.

  8. Those bath bombs sound interesting, I went through my Christmas last year and got rid of so many things, yet I still have a lot! This year, being sick, I only put out about 1/4 of it and never put ornaments on the tree. It was very sad for me. I love Christmas. Yesterday sounds like it was a very pleasant day in the chair with the blanket. Take care.

    1. I was sick and by the time I felt like putting things out I could not think of a reason to decorate for such a short amount of time. Both of my trees had lights only this year also.

    1. The hardest thing is finding them at a price I am willing to pay, and I am not willing to pay much at all.

  10. I volunteer to be your assistant. I will take a day off from work. You send me a link to the magazines I should look through to find the best recipes and decorating idea. I will wrap myself in a blanket. At the end of the day, I'll send you a list of the best of the best . . . when I wake up from my nap. January is going fast, isn't it? I'm taking the ornaments off my tree. I think the tree will be down by the end of the month.

    Love,
    Janie

  11. This is such an interesting quest! I'm eager to hear how it goes. I always imagine that Christmas stuff just sort of goes away after the new year, but I'm sure you can hunt it down. I'll be curious to know if there turn out to be things that you simply cannot find when you're out of Christmas season. Or if the things you do find are less expensive.

    1. Ebay is a treasure trove of Christmas collectibles. I am specifically looking for very inexpensive carolers. Since I am not looking at them as valuable collectors items, I am perfectly willing to purchase those with flaws. So far only one less than perfect one has arrived and I was able to build her a new nose/cheek with fingernail polish and a dab of paint. New these suckers sell in the 80-90 buck range. Used in prime condition they are about 35-50. Since I have low standards and am fairly good with repairs, so far my inventory has been anywhere from 7-19 bucks. The jury is still out though, on one I found today who is missing the entire back half of his head.

  12. I went through all of my Christmas decorations a few years ago and whittled it down. Now Christmas is spent with my daughter and she has masses of decorations too. Most of my stuff remained in the bins, so I may end up donating it.
Good luck finding the remaining careless.

    1. I know I can find them, the hunt is going to be the price because I am not willing to pay a lot for them.
I probably need to get rid of half of my decorations.
Years ago I put over 600 ornaments on the den tree. I am nowhere near that ambitious anymore.
I had already purged the decorations for the living room tree, but since I did not decorate either tree this year with anything but lights, it turned out to be a moot point.

  13. It sounds like you’re making great progress on your Christmas 2025 preparations, and I love how thoughtful your caroler collection is becoming! The idea of adding pup and possibly cat carolers to represent your grandpets is just so sweet. Your use of the Libby app for gathering Christmas inspiration is brilliant – I can already imagine all the festive ideas you'll have ready! Sorting through decorations can be a big task, but I’m sure you’ll be so pleased once it’s done. Here’s to a productive week ahead, and wishing you a relaxing and cosy weekend to recharge!

    1. I will be extremely pleased once I get all the Christmas decorations sorted and tucked away in the closet instead of scattered around the room. If I was a room we actually used I would probably be more apt at putting everything away. It used to be my granddaughter's room when they visited, but I have moved her to another bedroom and now the room is just a general catch-all.
