The Final Farewell

Today we close the final chapter on the lake place. Closing is set for 4:30 and we anticipate no snafus. The purchasing couple had their final walk through and all is set to close timely and drama free.

Yesterday my beloved sister and I spent the day cleaning it and got to see the view from the house for the final time. Not only was it gorgeous, but a blue heron was at the waters edge the entire time we were there. What a great goodbye!

I am not sure there is a more beautiful view on the entire lake. You can see glorious sunrises and breathtaking sunsets all from the screened porch. I hope the new owners have many wonderful times there. They are very excited to move in so I know we are leaving it in good hands,

I am certain I will miss it a bit, but at the same time I am so excited that we no longer have to plan weekend work trips. Until TheHub decides to retire we can enjoy our home, and after retirement adventures await that are not tied to yard work!

And once I get everything from the lake (that is now in my basement) out and gone, and get things back into shape here, I will be thrilled. No! Beyond thrilled! Ecstatic!

  1. I'm so glad you are happy with the people who are buying it, that makes it so much easier I think. I'm glad you won't have all the work the place took anymore, and I'm so glad you are happy and ready to just enjoy your home now. Cheers!

  2. Selling the lake house will be a bittersweet moment, but not having two (or three) houses to maintain will be a blessing. I know you are looking forward to that part.

    1. It is really a relief. I told my sister to give me two weeks to get things in order here and then I will be able to finish everything at Mom's so we can get it on the market.

  4. Yep, bittersweet but there comes a time when the work involved outweighs the pleasure too!

    1. It had gotten to the point where work was all we did. I wa already dreading spring when I was going to have to sand and repaint the porch and deck. Now I don't have to.

  5. I'm sure it is bittersweet (having said goodbye to several former homes, myself), but, it will be a relief not to have to clean and maintain the place! Your weekends will now be a bit (or a lot) freer, and you'll have more time to spend taking care of your main home and the task of getting everything nicely organized, again. :)

  6. Bittersweet I'm sure, but ad you said, hard to live a full life with work on both homes. I feel it just being part of a family lake place, and work is shared.

    1. It was just the two of us and we were not able to go and relax. We went to the lake and worked, so this is an ideal end.

  7. I must have missed the post where you decided to sell. well I know how bittersweet it can be I'm always so attached to places we lived. It's hard. But new adventures await. And for now, the farm is still fun and it's work but it's fun work. If it ever gets to be too much work then yeah we'l have to decide what our retirement will hold. For now the farm will be it in a few years, God willing!

    1. I have always been able to move without regret. We sold the house but as a result we bought a lot of time!

    1. I am very glad we are through with it, especially since things at TheHub's job have amped up and he is going to be working late and weekends for a couple of months. This was just an unexpected solution to a kink we did not expect.

  9. How many years did you own the place at the lake?

  10. I have always wanted a lake place or a cabin in the woods, but I also know many people who have such and it is so much upkeep and worry. I think you should be very tired of moving things by now.

  11. Congratulations on the completion of the sale. Very nice of Mother Nature to ensure you had an awesome final goodbye. You've certainly had your hands full with extra items this year. Good luck clearing things out.

    Take care, stay well.
