Recently I found 2 birthday cards that were perfect for the intended birthday gal and guy. I bought them well in advance and put them in a very special and protected place. Then I showed TheHub where I had put them, just in case I forgot about the hiding place.
I have been looking for these stupid cards since my friend's birthday in early July. The ironic thing was her card was about getting older and memory loss. Yep, karma is indeed a bitch.
Tomorrow is Son2's birthday and his most perfect card had still not turned up, so I called in the heavy artillery, TheHub, and had to "fess" up that I could not remember where I had hidden them. Sadly neither could he and after about an hours hunt they are still hidden. I can only think one thing __ we have some invisible, evil imps living in our house who move and re-hide our hidden things. Yes, that has to be it. There is no way we are old enough to be forgetting things. Our minds are tarp as a shack!
p.s. My kitchen cabinets and drawers are cleaned now. Strange side effect of looking for the blasted cards.

Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThis is only too familiar. There is a birthday present I bought for himself some years ago which is still in hiding. It was a good one and I am sure he will like it. One day.
And my mind is also sharp as a tack. On good days.
I really hate we can't find the card because I have never seen on more prefect. Such is life, but he would have enjoyed the laugh.
DeleteYES! YES! YES! I usually call exbf or Charlie (sasquatch) and tell him where I am putting something. I hate this about age. Or, it could be an upended house and clutter confounded by all my organized places gone.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
ReplyDeleteThink--if you were going to put those cards in a special and protected place, where would that place be? I know I would put it with cards or stationery...like things. Or, in with gift stash.
I had put it way out of the way where it would not accidentally be found. I am just glad I finally found it, in a totally different room than I thought!
DeleteYour clean cabinets reminded me what my mother used to say when I couldn't find something, "Clean until you find it." Annoying, but good advice.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what I was doing! Then I found them in my bedroom.
DeleteWell, this happens to me a lot. I have minimized to the point now that there can't be too many places left to hide anything, so I eventually find whatever I'm looking for. I buy greeting cards way ahead of time too, but I keep them in a special box so I know where to find them. Did you stick them between some books maybe?
ReplyDeleteI found then at about 2 a.m. I have a basket in my armoire that holds my pj.s. I had put the cards in there obviously (sarcasm) because no one but me ever looks in there so they would not accidentally be seen.
DeleteI vote imps. Has to be imps. Has to be.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteYep guilty too. It's like when you walk up the stairs to get something but by the time you get to the top you can't remember what you came up for! Oh dear!
ReplyDeleteI know , or I go into the laundry room and have no idea what I went in there for.
DeleteHappens all the time! I have to leave things out in plain sight and still I forget them! LOL! Glad you found them, eventually!
ReplyDeleteI am just glad I am not the only one who does this. But when I was younger it didn't happen this often. Now it is a regular occurance
DeleteYup, know all about those "safe" places that become invisible. We've solved that by always using the same place all the time for those things we want to be able to find. Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of forgetting that you got those things to use later! So they're invisible again. :-( Fun read -- thanks.
ReplyDeleteIn our family lore we have what is referred to as the great Hershey’s incident. A two pound bag of kisses has been missing ( or consumed by someone who is sticking to their story of denial) for about 7 years
DeleteI'm glad you found them!
ReplyDeleteI lose stuff all the time and not just when it's supposed to be "safe" or "hidden"
I also walk into rooms and forget why I'm there but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll remember the moment I walk out again!
I am generally pretty good about things except when I hide them.
DeleteHa! Your invisible evil imps have cousins here! I just had the same thing happen here, still haven't found the cards. I remember when I was young, mom would ask me where she had put stuff, I get it now. Glad you found them!
