Suburban Art, Alabama Style

While some of you are still experiencing snows and cold weather I thought I would show you the Alabama equivalent  of our spring downfall. Not to be confused with the inedible yellow snow this is some of the pollen art I see each morning. This particular work is approximately 6'x3' and is in the low point in the middle of of the pool cover. There are 6 other equal sized masterpieces in a straight line up/down the middle of the pool.  Nice isn't it? I think spring has fully sprung here!

Can someone please pass the Kleenex?

  1. On places I can reach, I cannot wipe it away often enough. I love Alabama, but I could not see out my windshield today. I certainly do not have pool-sized area of pollen.

    1. I can't keep my windshield clean right now. I am having to refill my washers about 2 times a week right now.

    2. Anne, I use the window washer often. So far, I have not had to refill the reservoir. I have to have someone else do the refill, so it is just as well.

    3. I have been driving a lot lately and every time I park for over 30 minutes I come out to a yellow windshield, so I have been using the washers well over a dozen times a day. It has been an intense pollen season this year.

  2. When we finally have spring, we will have huge amounts of pollen just like that. Spring is a mixed blessing definitely for those who have allergies.

    1. Yes it is. This year has been much worse than usual. We always have artwork on the cover but it is usually much smaller.

    1. Generally the first week in May. It takes about a week to get the water ready for swimming, plus that week will add a lot of sun warmth.

  5. Until I had a course of desensitising injections pollen made my life a misery for about five months of the year.

    1. We get blitzed for about a month and then it is pretty much gone until the fall bloomers.

  7. We certainly get pollen here but nothing like that. Having said that, last week my car received the most enormous dollop from overhead. I hope that's a sign I'm going to win the lottery (ha, ha). I tell you, I'm not sure that was a bird - more like a flying elephant but looked the same as your photo above. Anna

  8. Haha! Nothing is worse than an overhead attack!

  9. Oh, my! That's quite a bit of pollen, isn't it? It gets pretty bad, here, too.

    1. Fortunately we had heavy rains today which will clear a lot of it. When the rain first started I looked out the front windows and it looked like a small yellow river was flowing down the gutters..
