Time for Joys

Another week has passed with seven days to find joys. I hope I am never too preoccupied with myself that I cannot recognize the joys I am given each and every day. I look forward to reading these on New Year's Eve and reliving the entire year's worth of happy things.
And now there are only 9 weeks left in 2021! Slow down time!

Friday: My beloved sister and I went shopping. Neither of us have bought clothes in several years and, though what I own is still perfectly good, I am tired of it. I decided to give it to a couple of non-profits who clothe women who are looking for, or just got their first jobs. I had no idea how many local females live under someone's thumb and are never "allowed" to be self sufficient until they have reached the point of no return. I hope these will help them along their journey.
And now I own a few new things (to liven my wardrobe a little) that will go with the things I decided to keep.
Later Friday, TheHub and I did our usual date night, but this time we drove to the bluff to watch the sunset before we picked up our takeout dinner. I am so grateful there is somewhere so close for us to watch the sunsets. On any given day there are about 10 cars parked there to do the same.

Saturday: We began our Saturday as we usually do, with a stop at the produce stand. Afterward we ran a couple of errands, a quick stop at Aldi, and the bank before coming home to put up groceries. There is a huge joy just having another set of hands to unload them.
We had a cup of coffee then ran out to do some "eyes on" research on an item we are purchasing as our joint Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas, Valentines, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and any other special occasion day of 2021 gift.
When we had finished our recon, we had an al fresco lunch as a nearby burger joint, before coming home just in time for TheHub to get ready to go to the ball game with Son2. I was able to stay home with DIL2 and we almost watched the game, but mostly talked. Alabama won. Roll Tide!

Sunday: We streamed our church service while drinking coffee and enjoying the gorgeous day. Afterward we ran a couple of quick errands then came home. I am pretty sure a nap ensued!

Monday: Lazy was my key word for the day. I sat on the porch (it was gorgeous) and read, then came inside to "work". I did manage to remove excess (for Goodwill) from the kitchen while I watched/listened to two movies.

Tuesday: TheHub and I had an absolutely wonderful anniversary dinner.

Wednesday:  I went to my Wednesday class and was thrilled to be able to interact with some real live people. I have missed contact with others. Fortunately everyone in the class is not only vaccinated, but everyone but me has had their booster. I was supposed to have it earlier but life got in the way. I am getting it either today or tomorrow.

Thursday: Thursday began as a gray and overcast day after an overnight rain which is ushering in much cooler temperatures. I had nowhere to go so I stayed home to do exciting things like laundry and such. Though I am still wearing flip flops in the house my walks in the yard suggest it is no longer a good thing to wear them other than inside. Sigh! They are so stinking comfortable.
There is a certain joy when it is dark and drizzling to be able to stay inside. . .and read!

So enjoy your week and seek out the joys in it. They are always there even if you have to hunt for them.
I stole the line below from a comment on another blog, but I loved it and think it is a great ending for the weeks joys. I might continue to use it as a closing every Friday.

May All Your Weeds Be Wildflowers,
Anne

  1. With the cooler temperatures, I've been sitting outside on the porch too. I just love this cooler weather. It's great that you were able to update your wardrobe. And I like your new closing line. I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your take out with hubby tonight. :)

    1. I love sitting on the porch when it is cooler. We even have a small space heater and blankets we use when it gets really cold.

  2. Your post is so happy & full of uplifting things, even more so than usual, it seems. So happy for you. We had a wonderful week as well. A fabulous anniversary trip, time with my parents, getting to see the kids interact with my parents (they are very close) & my special additional joy for the week is seeing how wonderful my husband is with my parents. He really does adore them & spoil them. Who could ask for more?

    1. You really can't ask for more! I loved reading your list this week also. Good things are always around if we just look for them.

  3. A very joyful week, indeed. I'm glad you treated yourself to some new clothes. I will at some point do that before officially returning to work-just an item or two to wear differently so I'm not perceived to be wearing a uniform on office day by it being the same thing. I am looking at our options for the booster so hope to have in the next week to two.

    1. I wore one of the new tops today and was really pleased with how well it went with things I already had. Plus it made me feel like a different human! Buy you something new! You will be surprised how wonderful it will make you feel. (I figure you are like me and wear clothes for a long time without updating)

  4. That's an awesome close! Great idea, combining everyone's Special Day to gift yourselves something special. (Do we get to see the Reveal?)
Say, is your blogger friend going to host a Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt? If so, I'd love to join in.

    1. I will find out if there is going to be a winter hunt!
I will be happy to share the joint gift when we finally get it!

  5. Do you ever wonder how many of those other cars parked up at the bluff are occupied by teenagers "chillin'"? Or am I just weird? And I like that saying at the end too!

    1. There are some cars of teens, but honestly all ages go. It is the best sunset spot in town. It is a little to out in the open for serious teen chillin'.

  6. I love your joys - which also contribute to other people's. Win/win.

    1. I hope some joy rubs off, but mainly I hope it helps someone realize their own personal joys

  7. Sounds like some great joys!
I'm sure your clothes will help those women to a better life. I worked in a women's shelter while I was in college; so many sad stories but hopefully some better endings.
Hope you have a great weekend, and I love your closing line too.

    1. I hope the clothes help someone else. I think giving to a place like this is the clothing equivalent of the old saying about teaching man to fish vs. giving a man a fish.

  8. Happy belated Anniversary!

Love the closing line. Something I read in a gardening group was that weeds are merely plants that grow where we didn't plan for them.

  9. What a wonderful week of joys! Happy (belated) anniversary! I loved your reason for giving away your clothes! I loved your closing line, too! You wouldn't mind it if I copied it, would you?

    1. Since I stole the line (and did not ask permission) use it all you wish. I think it is one of the best lines I have ever heard.

  11. I love the weeds/wildflowers quote. That would suit me just fine! Your week sounds pleasant and fun. Good for you getting rid of excess stuff and also finding some new things to refresh your wardrobe. I need to do that so badly. Oh, sounds like you had an anniversary? Happy Anniversary and may God bless you with many more. Yes, we are into our porch sitting season here in Florida...cooler/drier temps make for some lovely porch sitting days. I am still in recuperation mode from surgery, so I may be spending more time on the porch (or on the swing in the yard) here in the near future. Can't sit here at the computer for long without starting to feel too uncomfortable just yet, so not doing much writing or visiting. Hopefully that will get better each day. I'm trying to stay caught up a little at a time. Hope you have a blessed and wonderful weekend. Happy Halloween! Next we can start thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. one thing at a time, please. LOL. Bye for now.

    1. I hope you continue minute by minute to improve. Recuperation is a difficult process, because we are usually so impatient!

  12. Your sunset spot sounds magical. We can almost see a nice sunset from our porch except that trees block much of it. I don't think we can drive our cars to our neighbors yard to sit and watch during dinner, but we could take more walks during that time. Might be good for us in more ways than one.

    1. It is on the bluff overlooking a valley. Nothing is really in the way until the sun disappears, but on certain days after sunset the entire western sky is brilliant with reds and oranges and occasionally pinks.
