Hooray for Fall!

I am currently doing my happy dance. We had a rain last night (fantastic news for the parched earth) and today is is now 4:15 and it is only 86 degrees. I am thinking I might need to haul out  a sweater to go with my sleeveless shirt, shorts and flip flops. It has been so hot this almost feels cool!

  1. Our "fall" should arrive tonight! It's supposed to be in the 70's here in North Texas and we are more than ready! Maybe even a drop or two of rain!

    1. Hope you get it! Right now I will settle for the mid 80's compared with the temps we have been having.

  2. We too had some rain this afternoon. I hope it will rain again tonight. 😊

    1. It is raining a tad as I write this. I hope today it will rain off and on all day.

  3. How wonderful. We have had a tiny dribble of rain this week (much more needed) and our temperatures are ramping up (and setting records for the month).
I hope that you (and we) get more rain and cooler temperatures.

  4. We have had relief to from the unusual 90's recently. We have had regular October weather with temps in the 60's the last couple of days. Very nice.

    1. I am happy for all of us in the south. This summer has been brutal.

  5. So glad you are getting cooler weather. We've had cooler weather, here, too, and my daughter even turned on the heater, at night! :)

    1. I am probably going to turn the heat on one day soon so I can have the house open and blow out the smell that comes with the first heat of the season.

  6. Anne,
I bought a sweater at WM to wear over summer clothes as the temps drop. The trouble is, temps go up and down during the day so that I might need something light over sleeveless clothes and then must rip it off as the day warms up.

    1. I also found my red silk/cotton duster for dressier occasions where I need a bit of warmth. I can wear it clear down in July because of the fabric and the fact it is lightweight.

    2. Layering is the way to go, though for me it just means changing from a sleeveless top to one with short sleeves, and possibly capris instead of shorts and flip flops

  7. The highest will be 69 Fahrenheit here in Istanbul today and the 10-day forecast shows no more than 73. Early in the morning and at night, we need a sweater or a jacket nowadays. It gets much colder.

  8. It rained briefly in a few places around here, but nothing by our home. The grass is so crispy. Hopefully today we'll get something.

    1. I hope you get some also. It has been raining off and on all day so far. Mostly off but still I will be grateful for any rain we get.

  9. It's been a mixed bag here. Yesterday was about 85, but is much, much cooler than the summer once it's evening time. So, that's a welcome change.

    1. I am very excited. It is only in the 70's today with occasional showers. Perfect foil for both the heat and the crunchy grass.

  10. Here on Vancouver Island we've had a lot of rain and a coat has been a requirement since the September long weekend. It still is WAAAAYYY nicer than most of Canada, many cities have already gotten large snow dumps! Enjoy your fall :)

    1. Do you get much snow on the island. I know the few times we have been to Vancouver and up to Whistler during the winter, there was no snow until we hit the snow line going up the mountain?

  11. Ha ha, 86 degrees and you're talking of putting a sweater on! I'm getting my snow tyres put on on Friday!

    1. I was really being sarcastic about the sweater, because after such horrid temps in the high 90's 86 feels substantially cooler.

  13. The comment right above mine looks like spam. You gotta love the Internet!

Anyway, our temps finally fell into the low 90s and upper 80s in the Phoenix area this past week. Like you, that spells fall for us. Looking ahead about a week, predictions are for upper 70s. That will mean it is time to pack away the shorts for the year. Yea!
