Annie @Tuesday 4 sends 4 questions each week, and if I remember it is Tuesday I try to play along. Join in if you would like to! This week is all about preferences.
Which do you prefer?
1. Picnic by the water or backyard BBQ?
I live in the south and any picnic by a lake is going to be beautiful and bug filled. A backyard bbq is easier, just as tasty, plus I have a screened porch which limits the number of uninvited guests.
2. Spring or Autumn? Got reasons?
I love autumn best because our winters are not severe, but our summers can be. Nothing beats months of hot humid weather like a drier coolish day that comes with fall. Plus spring makes me sneeze!
3. Cup of Tea or Cup of Coffee? 'splain it to us Lucy... if you don't mind!
Coffee, black and strong. Actually 3 cups which is my usual morning through early afternoon beverage of choice. I am not sure what there is to explain though. My parents were big coffee drinkers. When we were kids we had coffee milk (mostly warm milk with a tad of coffee and sugar) and cinnamon toast most Saturday mornings. I just grew up loving the taste of coffee.
I do enjoy a cup of hot tea occasionally during the evening, but only when the weather is cool.
4. A weekend at home or one spent out and about?
This depends on what is going on and where the out and about might be. We (pre-covid) usually went out at least one night a weekend, and did some running around, or went to some specific local entertainment on Saturdays. We are slowly getting back to life and have been eating out and gone to a few events on the weekend. I have missed doing things. At the same time though, I don't like the weekend to be so filled that we have no time to catch our breath.
Come on and join in. Let me know what your preferences are.
BBQ in backyard is much better. Lakes do nothing for me. However, we do picnic in the car by a lake and very much enjoy that.
ReplyDeleteSpring always. My allergies are worse in the Autumn. There is the promise of warm weather in the Spring and flowers and the promise of more. In the Autumn, I dread the prospect of getting cold and having to wear more clothing.
I don't like tea or coffee. I don't like hot drinks.
While I might like to go to a festival or someplace special, I prefer not to spend the whole weekend on the go.
I love lakes but picnics by them are just too buggy for me.
DeletePerhaps our bugs are less vicious, but a picnic by the water wins for me. Hooray for both Spring AND autumn. I love coffee (and still enjoy the smell) but I can no longer drink it.
ReplyDeleteMostly I would prefer a weekend at home. Though I would also like to eat out once in a while. Himself doesn't like it, and Covid has cemented that dislike.
Mosquitos see me coming and think "all you can eat buffet." Lakeside picnics leave me with bites all over .
DeleteI love a good bbq, but picnics as well. You know I love my rich coffee, with a few splashs of milk. The more the better, but I do enjoy a good cup of tea in the afternoon and iced tea when hot.
ReplyDeleteWe drink iced tea in the evening almost every night, winter or summer. I think it is in the living in the south rule book.
DeleteI like iced tea in the summer and hot tea in the afternoon and evening but I have a cup of coffee in the morning each day. I know what you mean about picnics and bugs! I would love to have a nice screened in porch.
ReplyDeleteA screened porch is the only way we can enjoy sitting outside on summer evenings.
DeleteOh, let's see:
ReplyDelete1. Not a fan of picnics but, I do not have a backyard so, I'll say a sandwich, a cold beverage or coffee with a good book by the sea.
2. Autumn! Love the foliage colors and the slowly decreasing heat. Spring makes me sneeze too.
3. Both! I do not like tea the way most of the world makes it. We, Turks, brew our tea a certain way and I like that. If there are only tea bags available, I would like cuppa joe please.
4. A weekend at home please. I live in a very crowded city so, weekends are brutal. Being semi-retired, I enjoy being outside during the week.
Now I am curious about Turkish brewing!
DeleteHaha! If you have 4 minutes, you may want to watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9ezTFhUE2c
DeleteDefinitely autumn for me. Love the cooler, crisp weather after a hot humid summer (like summer, too, but it can drag on). And backyard for me. And coffee. Weekend at home or out? Why not both! :-)
ReplyDeleteI prefer weekends that have some activities and some down time.
DeleteI'm not really a outdoor picnic person. We might eat a meal on the deck once or twice a summer but that would be about. Now, offer me a fly-in fishing trip with a camp lunch of fresh caught fish and fry bannock by the lake and that's a whole other thing. :)
ReplyDeleteSpring is my absolute favorite season because our winters are sooooo long (as you've heard me complain about many times). I love the smell of rain in the air, the smell of the earth as it thaws, and the green shoots that start pushing out of the ground. The bugs aren't bad yet either.
I trink tea mostly but when I worked I drank a lot of coffee. Still enjoy a cup once in awhile.
Most of the time I'd take a weekend at home (much like I do everyday). But if I have a chance to get away from my everyday and relax then I'm quite happy to do so.
I cannot start my mornings without at least a cup of coffee, though I prefer 3.
DeleteIf I had winters as brutal as you do I am sure spring would be my favorite season also.
1. I would prefer the food from my backyard barbecue, but I loathe eating outside. I wouldn't mind sipping a drink poolside, or on the beach in the Panhandle, though.
ReplyDelete2. Depends on where I live: In the Northeast it was Autumn, because spring doesn't exist. It was a tossup when I lived in the southwest--both are lovely. Here in the PNW, it's Autumn. Both spring and Autumn can be rainy and windy, but in Autumn, I'm ready for it.
3. Coffee, lots and lots of coffee. I drink an entire carafe of French press coffee every morning. I heartily dislike tea.
4. A weekend at home. I am happy in my home. I dislike a lot of coming and going. I am happiest in my home. Seriously, I don't understand how stay-at-home orders were so hard for people. I don't feel the need to be up in other people's faces every second of the day, and I dislike people in my face.
I do like a drink at the beach. I have panhandle fever right now and TheHub and I were talking about driving down for a long weekend.
DeleteYou know different parts of the country (Like the south) change your wants and likes. I never thought about that.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it depends on what your toughest season is. Ours is always summer, though I do like all but the hottest, humid days of summer.
DeleteSpring - always - and a cup of tea, of course!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely expect you to be a tea drinker!
DeleteFun questions!
ReplyDeleteI love a picnic by the water. Our deck faces west, and it is too blinding hot to eat there in the summer.
I love spring, but allergies are awful this year.
I don't really like coffee or hot tea, but I enjoy a mocha in winter and iced tea in summer.
I'm a homebody, but I really hope we can have some outings and vacations this year.
We are trying to get back into the habit of doing things. I am still masking most places, but that is fine if I feel more comfortable doing it.
DeleteYes, the back yard does sound better! I am not a fan of humidity. Enjoy your coffee. I do like some creamer in mine. It feels good to get back to almost normal again. I pray it stays this way.
ReplyDeleteI am with you about hoping and praying things can get back to normal.
DeleteBBQ at home, I think; although picnics can be fun, too. Late spring is good; our autumn is an extension of summer, for the most part and then, it gets cold overnight! I like both coffee and tea, but, I am more particular about my tea than about coffee, so, when I am at home, I tend to have tea. Oh, weekend at home, please. I'm a homebody!
ReplyDeleteI am tired of being at home. I have been here too much, and crave doing some of the things we used to do!
DeleteDitto how you answered #3. Perhaps I don't care for tea, on account I can't find anything black and strong enough?
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I've little choice but to enjoy a glass of hotel room wine. (Which ain't bad!)
I love a bold coffee that lets me know it is coffee. During the winter I occasionally have a cup of Earl Gray in the evenings as a little warm up beverage.
DeleteCoffee has also been a favorite flavor of mine since I was a child. I would beg for a little bit when my parents thought I was too young for it. So I'm with you on that!
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It is late and I would love nothing more than a cup of coffee. Unfortunately my days of late night coffee drinking have passed, unless it is decaf, so why bother?
