Tuesday's 4 Questions

I have been following Annie @ Tuesday 4 for the month of September. Today's questions are about marriage.

1. How did you meet your husband/wife?

I was a freshman in college and had gone with a friend to a party at his apartment (We had never met before) . While there I ran into another good friend from high school who was his friend also, and she introduced us.

2. How did you know he/she was “the one”?

I have no idea. Honestly he was such a very good guy early in our relationship and he is still a very good guy. It just clicked.

3. How did he propose?

We were insanely young and we both just knew we wanted to get married to each other and had already discussed it at length. He was at my family's home for the weekend and went out on the deck to talk to my Dad. It was a formality and we would have gotten married anyway, but Dad appreciated it.  Immediately afterward he came into the den, and that was that and we were officially engaged.

4. Do you have any favorite stories from your marriage or about your husband/wife?

I do have some, and they are things we talk and laugh about on a regular basis. If I were talking to you in person I would tell you some of them, but they just don't necessarily belong on my blog because they are not just my stories. They are shared stories and this is not our shared blog.

  1. I like the way you talk about your husband - it's very sweet. You're (both) very lucky to have found each other!

    1. He really is a good guy. Kind of quiet except when it is just the two of us. Then my sister's nickname for him is Yakky.

  4. It would be interesting to ask the same questions of your husband and see how he answers them. My husband and I often focus on different parts of stories.

  5. I loved your answers to the questions.
I too have been with my partner a long time (over forty years). I do not know how we met but am grateful. Very grateful.
Like Live and Learn I suspect that our answers to these questions would be very different.

  12. Anne,

DH asked my daddy for my hand in marriage, too. A tradition that I hope withstand for years and generations to come. We were insanely young, too. I was still in high school in between my junior & senior year. DH just graduated college. We moved to Knoxville, TN because of his job opportunity with TVA. I finished high school, then got a two year degree in computer programming. We celebrated our 41st anniversary this past June. I'm happy to share every day with DH. He's my husband but he's also my best friend. It was fun to read your answers. Have a terrific day!

  13. Very nice post. Mrs KR and I met in college as well -- we were both working in the library. Neither of us were looking for a relationship at that time -- we had things to do after we graduated! Work! Success! Etc Etc Etc. But we came to our senses after we got out of the insanely young stage into the still-wet-behind-the-ears phase. :-)

    1. Work and success are lofty aims but it takes more than goals to enjoy life. I have loved having my husband as a life partner, who has made me/my life better__except for those rare occasions. We have never wanted to get a divorce, but we have both had moments when we wanted to figuratively kill each other.

    1. I think mine is typical of everyone's who is determined to make a go of it. There are wonderful days, great days, good days, and some crap days but we made a promise to weather them all.
