I Can't Say No to Tuesday 4

When I actually remember it is Tuesday, I play along with Annie @Tuesday 4.

Today the topic is Books.. TV.. Movies.  I kept it simple and stuck with movies.

1 A movie theme song will play every time you walk in the room.. what is it? (consider asking family or friends)
I asked my beloved sister who said it would depend if I were in a good or bad mood.
The first is not a theme song but is a song from the movie Oklahoma, I Cain't Can't Say No which, in my case, has nothing to do with relationships. Everyone that knowns me knows I have a hard time saying no to requests, so I wind up doing a lot of things I don't necessarily want or have the time to do. (This would be my pre-covid self. Now I have developed better "No" skills)

If I am in a really foul mood she said my theme song is the theme from Jaws

Maybe I should not have asked the one person who has known me the longest for this answer

2. What movie, book or TV program could you live in?
I have never thought of this before but I think I could live happily in "Chocolat" It is a sweet movie with chocolate and Johnny Depp!

3. Is there a book/movie/TV quote you often think about or that effects you in some way?
"I am just one stomach flu away from my goal weight", from The Devil Wears Prada. I use it sarcastically all the time.

4. OK friend, its your turn to organize our Blogger Movie Night where we get together as a group for snacks and movies!  What movies have you planned for us tonight and what snacks are we going to have?
I would probably show "The Shawshank Redemption" It is a nice and non-offensive movie that works for everyone and it has a feel good ending.
Snacks? Cokes and popcorn of course, with a theater size box of Goobers or Milk Duds for everyone.

  1. Oh how fun! Too funny about the Jaws theme. Hope I never make you angry.
    I'll play along.
    1. My son said if I have a headache, the imperial march will play. My husband says stayin alive.
2.I could live in the shire or Rivendell.
or the town of MItford if I have to be more realistic.
3.“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
4.Surprise...we are going to watch The Fellowship of the Ring. ;)
well usually snacks would be pizza and wings, popcorn and dr pepper, but I might have to make some elven bread out of the dungeons and dragons cookbook I bought my son for his birthday last week.

    1. Elven bread would be essential. For the finale of Orange is the New Black, I served prison food.

    2. Ok, I'm curious...please share what you made for prison food.

    4. What a fascinating post! You are braver than I am to make and eat the prison food, although I might actually like the peanut butter ramen. ;)

  2. 1) I asked Tommy, and he said music from My Fair Lady. He could not pin it down. So, finally he said The Rain in Spain. I was puzzled. He said because of my English degree. Okay, I still don't get it.

    2) I always live in whatever book I am reading. Unfortunately, most of them don't have ac, so this would be doubly hard. Okay, Frasier.

    3) Gunsmoke. I love it, but I always think how hard life was then. And, it takes place less than ten years before my grandmother was born. So, it sort of hits home.

    4) Adam's Woman is a movie about the settling of Australia by convicts. Some of the scenes are so moving, sensual without being sexual. Food-- something chocolate, maybe brownies, soft drinks, unsweetened ice tea, and chicken fingers along with healthy finger food/crudites.

    1. If I am having a movie party I am going to forego healthy alternatives and go for a true theater experience!

    2. Ha, I will go heavy on the chocolate and cokes. Trust me.

    3. 3) A book quote I read less than a week ago: Few failures. . . . are as unforgiving as failure to avoid a predator: being killed greatly decreases future fitness. The Bird Way.

  3. I really don't do movies, but like your answers. I am afraid to ask what theme song defines me though. I suspect it would come from sci-fi (or perhaps horror).

    1. I made the mistake of asking my sister who has known me longer than anyone alive today, except for Uncle Bob who is too much like The Absent Minded Professor to give me a real answer

  4. I had to laugh about the theme from Jaws, that would probably be mine too when I'm in a bad mood. I want to live in that old show Bewitched, of course I want to be Samantha or maybe her crazy cousin Serina instead. So what time should I arrive for movie night? ;)

  6. I love Oklahoma! Yes, Chocolat is another great choice. Great answer from The Devil Wears Prada. I love Shawshank too! I didn't play today because I was drawing a blank. I'm finding a lot of people had awesome answers.

    1. I just decided to not over think it and go with my first thoughts. (Except for my sister's thoughts and I did not alter them)

  7. I'm not a movie person so have no idea what the theme song of any movies would be. (I'm not very musically inclined either.)

NCIS New Orleans would be the television program for me because NOLA...I'm not sure I'd do well with all the murder and intrigue.

My memory is so bad that I can often start reading a book or watch a television program and be halfway through before I realize I've read/seen it before. So I can't think of a single quote. How sad is that?

A movie party would definitely require popcorn, red licorice, and colas...that's standard movie fare from my childhood. As for a movie - I'd leave that to the participants - I'm pretty sure I won't have seen anything they chose.

    1. I went with traditional movie treats just to make it feel like a movie night. There was one quote :"Have you seen the big rat from Sumatra" that my sister and I use all the time, but I have forgotten what movie it was from so I couldn't use it.

  8. Enjoyed reading your answers. I like the songs from Oklahoma! Not a big movie fan, but, may I attend movie night for the company and the snacks, please? :)

  9. I like how you keep the snacks so traditional! It would be just so authentic. I have not yet seen Shawshank Redemption. I will have to give a look. Thank you so much for joining in!

    1. I figure you have to go full on with a movie party and have what most people get at the theater.

  10. I asked Alexa what the greatest movie is and she said The Shawshank Redemption, based on its high ratings on IMDB. I thought that was interesting. It is a movie I love.

    Love,

  11. Great answers and I think the snacks would be just perfect. Shawshank Redemption was an excellent choice in movies. Thank you for sharing. My comment will appear at my second blog but I posted at my first blog. Phamily Blog or annesphamily.blogspot.com Have a great wednesday!

  12. That was fun hearing your answers. Add me to the list of never seeing the Shawshank Redemption. I'll add it to the list with all of the other movies we'd like to watch, but never get around to seeing.

  13. 'Girl Sleuth' (on your profile) ... I love it! I don't remember that quote from Prada, but you betcha I'm going to use it. 😁 Your MIL's deck looks so inviting with all those shade trees -- and the wine, of course!

PS - Birmingham? We're just a ways down the road in Coosada.
