Tuesday 4

When I actually remember it is Tuesday, which is rare now, (Thanks pandemic!) I join in with Annie at Tuesday 4. You might like to join also!

Just in case you have seen Shallow Grave you will recognize this, and hopefully laugh. If not just enjoy the lovely voice of Andy Williams

1. Do you have a favorite movie to recommend?
One of my favorite movies is Shallow Grave. Recently I have been thinking that it is time to watch it again. It would be your classic dark comedy and is not for everyone but I really do like it.

2. Do you have a schedule for your day or do you wing it?
I have a loose schedule that I keep if it involves things others are counting on, appointments, or things away from home. If I am here at the house all day, I wing it.

3. What are you  eating/cooking lately?
It is summer so we eat a bit lighter. I am cooking whatever we harvest from our small garden or what is in the freezer. Right now the zucchini and squash are not as prolific but I have green beans coming out of my ears. Now green beans are at the forefront of every meal. (We are gathering about a pound each day. I guess I am going to have to buy a pressure canner because I am about out of room in the freezer)

4.  Do you surf on your computer? Tell us about it, won't you?
I am a threat to look something up because I need the information, but then I will follow rabbit hole after rabbit hole. Before I know it I have gone from reading about how to repair a pocket door, clicking on link after link, and wind up reading about Tuvan throat singing.
Every day I look at a couple of Youtube vlogs. One of my sons works at a recreational/social facility for adults with special needs. The participants there are so dear and I have missed volunteering since the pandemic. I accidentally (rabbit hole thing) found Autistic Interpretations and have been watching it regularly. It reminds me of some of the wonderful people at Independence Place.
The other Youtube vlog I watch is Matt's RV reviews. TheHub and I watch it together because we think we might like to get one and this gives us ideas about what we do and don't like.

  1. I have two favorite movies that are polar opposites in content - P.S. I Love You & Wind River. After 8 yrs of retirement, I'm still not over a slow morning. I wake early by some standards, usually between 6-7 AM, enjoy reading (book or computer) over a cup of coffee. I make a plan for the day, tidy up, do some meal prep then get on with the day's activities that usually involves something that needs doing and something that wants doing. These days there's a lot of gardening. I'm eating down the cold storage and freezer these days in anticipation of the garden harvest so rhubarb juice & crisps (with saskatoons & raspberries), raspberry/cream cheese French toast, the last of the squash (soup), veggies (beans, carrots) in tuna/pasta salads. There's much more cooking on the BBQ this time of the year. I'm not a big surfer on the computer but do enjoy certain blogs (including yours) and sites that keep me informed. I participate in a writing for fun group and use the wwweb for "research".

    1. We have been trying to eat down the freezer, but I swear it regenerates over night!

  2. I am a rabbit hole surfer as well-both the computer and YouTube. Describing your son's work folks reminds me of my highschool friends son with special needs. He's everyone's friend and will pop into the brewery and catch up with everyone. Now I have a hunger for Asian cooked green beans. Still expensive here.

  3. 1. I have long since lost the patience to sit through a full length movie. I like to stream series, as I can take them in parts, and love a good dark comedy. "A Young Doctor's Notebook" is one of my favorites.
    2. Like you, I have a loose schedule.
    3. We had some Wagyu steaks for Father's Day, and I may pick up more before the promotion ends, as, expensive as they are, they are terrific. Beyond that, nothing very exciting is happening in the kitchen.
    4. I do surf. I go to quilting sites, Allrecipes, and a host of research based Tudor sites. I also follow rabbit holes. In reference to the schedule, I try to keep my laptop out of sight from about 10 a.m. until after dinner, as surfing is a time suck.

    1. Wagyu beef is exceptional, but it is a treat for us.
Rabbit holes are part of the fun of the internet!

  4. YES to # 4. I start one search and then move on to another. I can do this for a very long time with google and even YouTube. We eat light in the summer too. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

  5. Where can I find Shallow Grave? If you follow DVArtist, she has a new movie recommendation every Monday. I am struggling through the Netflix TV series MANIFEST. It does get your attention but it is very cheesy. Just finished a movie from Teran and it is on Amazon Prime called DISAPPEARANCE. It was very sad. There are several movies called DISAPPEARANCE so it is hard to find. I saw Andy Williams Theater in Branson, Mo. and his beautiful estate there.

    1. I know you can rent it from Amazon. I have an old dvd that I watch sometimes.
      I. don't guess I ever appreciated Andy Williams voice, but he really does have a nice set of pipes.

  6. I'd have to say I'd answer the same on all of them other than favorite movie. I don't think I've ever seen that one, but now I'll have to check it out. :)

  7. I am a bit of a slave to routine and like to do the same domestic tasks on the same day. A big yes to rabbit holes. I haven't even heard of Shallow Grave, much less seen it.

    1. I don't remember when I saw the movie, but it quickly became one of my favorites. It is quirky and a bit dark but I have a compulsion to watch it again and again.

  11. My 2 favorite movies are more romances which is odd because I am so far not a romantic- Somewhere in Time and The Way We Were. Since I still work, I have a schedule but it's pretty loose- I'm up by 4 every morning, drink a cup of coffee, eat something, and do some work on the computer besides read a few blogs. I always make a list- menu, things to do, etc. Usually at this time. I'm done for the day unless I have a few late visits to make.
By the way, I didn't know one of your sons works in a day program- I'm a support coordinator who sees that day programs and agencies are paid and that my clients are getting the services they have a right to get. I go often to day programs to visit them and to their group homes but I also have clients who live with family or independently with just a few supports.

    1. All of their participants live with family, several have jobs, but some can not handle employment. I'm sure you see that social and recreational needs are are also critical for their well being. I love being with them and have missed volunteering tremendously. Hopefully by fall they will all be vaccinated and the vaxed volunteers can return.

  12. I haven't seen Shallow Grave, but I like dark comedies so I'll look for it.

  13. Hi Anne,
I've never heard of Shallow Grave but I like "dark" so I'll try to keep it in mind. I like green beans sometimes but I'm a bit too lazy to prepare them very often. A pound a day would not be used here.
I've never got into you tube as entertainment but RV reviews strike me as a very useful thing to watch before you invest a lot of hard earned into a vehicle

  14. Interesting movie. I haven't seen that one. I ran across Autistic Interpretations website years back, and have followed Jess's journey. My daughter was diagnosed with Autism in 2006 right before she turned three. She is now 17 and graduating this year.

  15. Gosh that Andy Williams song takes me back (I'm showing my age now). And thanks for that film recommendation. I just finished watching The Serpent and am looking for something new to watch!

  16. I know all about the interwebs and rabbit holes. I can get SO lost looking up something that has a pretty simple explanation -- but then there are permutations and subtleties that I hadn't thought of that just HAVE to be explored. Fun, though. :-)

  18. I've never heard of Shallow Grave but now I want to watch it, will search it out. Mine is The Breakfast Club lol, child of the 1980s. I am making BBQ skinless boneless chicken breast, roasted sliced bbq potatoes and corn on the cob for supper. We ate A&W out last night at the beach as it is hot here right now. Take care and hugs!

Your meal sounds delicious. It is hot here now, unless it is raining and we have had a lot of that lately.
